The role of a Telecom Lineman is a specialty trained technician with an expertise in the construction and repair of overhead
plant or RF/Fiber lines. This Lineman will also have extensive training in specialty equipment to service these overhead
projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install and/or repair aerial CTV, coaxial and fiber cable
- Placing, relocating and removing poles, lines, open wire, drop and block wire in order to maintain efficient operation of the customer’s facilities
- Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers
- Lead Groundman in daily work to safely complete jobs
- Direct traffic in accordance with local DOT guidelines as necessary
Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in telecommunications construction required
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety requirements to complete the job(s) safely
- Ability to climb/Gaff poles correctly
- Ability to read and understand blue prints
- Ability to read and understand work orders
- Ability to identify aerial equipment
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced and quickly changing environment
- Ability to work on call including evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work and climb up to 35 feet
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to climb poles with climbing equipment safely
- Move and relocate RF and Fiber service
- Familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines
- Underground work as needed and directed and as trained
- Flagger Certified for field work as needed
- Ability to troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and or equipment issues
- Lead teams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor
- Vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified

Ensures proper materials are loaded using pallets, trays, racks, and shelves when needed. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designed area using hand truck, electric dolly, wheel barrow, or other devices. May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Ensures all identifying tags or labels are properly attached to materials or all identifying marks are properly used to identify information on cases, bales, or other containers. Will properly maintain records as required by management in the appropriate warehouse information system.
Required Skills
- Receives incoming inventory & Supply items, logs into company warehouse system, and stocks inventory in the proper location
- Read work orders, shipping order, or follows verbal instructions
- Fills customer invoices. Checks part numbers, cleans and packs inventory items.
- Inspects inventory for defects, scratches or other damage.
- Notifies Warehouse Manager of problems.
- Follows all company safety and accident procedures while on company premises or operating company vehicles or equipment.
- Tracks all inventory in appropriate system.
- Organizes and cleans warehouse space and company equipment as needed.
- Reports any customer problems or concerns immediately.
- Coaches fellow associates on warehouse operational practices and procedures, equipment operation, and safety procedures when needed.
- Enforces policies and procedures to ensure efficient, effective, and safe warehouse operations.
- Evaluates current processes and procedures and recommends changes to warehouse management.
- Contributes ideas on ways to reduce warehouse cost per unit and increase productivity.
- Maintains working knowledge of warehouse data system and performs various tasks within the system.
- When requested delivers supplies and equipment in a timely fashion, while observing all Regulated DOT and OSHA standards.
